Overnight French Toast
Overnight french toast is a great casserole that you can make ahead of time for easy prep the next day. This is on the sweeter side, so you will want to pair it with something tart like raspberries or orange slices.
OVERNIGHT FRENCH TOAST
Makes 6-8 servings
1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted Butter 1 cup packed Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons Honey 1 Loaf Brioche (or Challah), sliced 5 Eggs 1 1/2 cups Heavy Cream 1 teaspoon Vanilla 3 teaspoon Grand Marnier 1/4 teaspoon salt
In a small heavy bottom saucepan melt butter with brown sugar and honey over moderate heat, stirring, until smooth and pour into a 13"x 9" baking dish.
Cut 1-inch thick slices from the loaf of brioche.
Arrange bread slices in one layer in baking dish, squeezing them slightly to fit (6-8 slices typically fit).
In a bowl whisk together eggs, cream, vanilla, Grand Marnier. And pour evenly over bread evenly.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.
Preheat oven to 350° F and bring bread to room temperature (~1-2 hours).
Bake bread mixture, uncovered, in middle of oven until puffed and edges are golden, 35 to 45 minutes. It will deflate - do not stress if it gets super puffy.
Serve hot french toast immediately.
